Mercedes-Benz GLB SUV interior teased for Shanghai debut



Mercedes-Benz is set to reveal its new Mercedes-Benz GLB at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show after hinting the reveal of its new SUV on its social media page.

Slotting between the GLA and GLC, the GLB will be positioned as a more rugged and roomier SUV compared to the GLA but still a little smaller than the GLC. When launched, it will rival against the likes of Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Volvo XC40 while the GLA will compete against more compact models like the Q2 and MINI Countryman.

New GLB slots between the GLA & GLC

In the teaser image, the sketch shows Mercedes new-generation interior design language seen in the W177 A-Class and B-Class. Widescreen cockpit, turbine-style air vents and minimalistic centre console are to be expected while items such as Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), 64-colour ambient lighting, sunroof and premium audio system will be some of the options available.

Powertrain options should ditto the current-generation A-Class with petrol and diesel options ranging from 1.33- to 2.0-litre in capacity. Word is that Mercedes-AMG are already working on a 35 and/or 45 variant for the GLB.
