The Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered Concept will change your mind about the electric future

The joy of driving is not only derived from speed but the senses from the steering wheel, changing gears (ideally on your own) and even the sound and smell from the engine bay.

If you enjoy all things driving, then perhaps you’d see hybrid/electric cars as the anti-Christ of pure driving pleasure. Peugeot, however, is about to change just that.

Check out the all-new Peugeot 508 that’s coming to Malaysia this year!

What they’re set to unveil at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show is the Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered Concept – the first step towards a range of high performance electric Peugeot vehicles.

Based on the new 508 Hybrid, Peugeot Sport engineers had fettered with its powertrain to now feature the PureTech 200 engine and a 111 hp electric motor powering the front wheels, while another 200 hp electric motor is solely in charge of the rear wheels.

The result is an all-wheel drive configuration capable of a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Home to a 11.8kWh battery, the 508 Sport Engineered Concept can go up to 50 km in full electric mode. Inside the 508, the i-Cockpit design concept has been further dramatise by a mix of alcantara and carbon fibre trims.

The 508 Sport Engineered Concept marks an important step for the brand towards an electrified future; pledging to provide an electrified version across its entire range by 2023.
