The new BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport is starting to grow on us…

The all-new fourth-generation BMW X5 made its global debut in June 2018 and now our neighbours across the causeway has gotten a first taste of the new Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) – BMW speak for SUV – at the 2019 Singapore Motor Show.

On display is a xDrive40i variant wearing the M Sport kit that adds sportier M Aerodynamics bumpers, blue painted M Sport brake calipers, M Sport Suspension, blacked out window surrounds and roof rails as well as a M Sport exhaust system with dual outlets integrated into the rear diffuser. This unit here rides on the optional 22-inch M Performance alloys wrapped in ridiculously wide mixed sized Pirelli P Zero rubbers – 275/35 R22 front and 315/30 rear.

Inside the new X5, you’ll find a new generation LCD instrument cluster display, BMW Live Cockpit Professional with the new BMW Operating System 7.0, ambient lighting, cooled/heated cupholders, the Panorama glass roof Sky Lounge, Dynamic Interior Light, the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, 10.2-inch touchscreen displays in the second row and soft close doors.

The M Sport package adds M specific three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, illuminated door skills, Sport Seats, M key design, floor mats, footrest and aluminium sports pedals to the cabin. See that chunky Swarovski crystal gear shift lever? That will definitely impress your passengers.

This xDrive40i variant is powered by a 3.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo in-line six pushing out 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Transmission of choice is an eight-speed ZF automatic to drive all four wheels. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.5 seconds and top speed is rated at 243 km/h.
