At the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) 2018 Performance Briefing, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of MBM, Mark Raine took the opportunity to tease their upcoming model launch in 2019 and it is none other than the yet-to-be-unveiled Mercedes-AMG A 45.
How do we know that Raine was referring to the A 45 in particular and not the A 35? That’s because he played this exact video:
In the trailer video, the next-gen A 45 is hinted to feature more aggressive aero, quad exhaust pipes and a supposedly Drift Mode that allows the car to slide around in corners. Power is expected to be from a stroked, hand-assembled M133 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder potentially breaching the 400 hp mark. The A 35, on the other hand, utilises a tuned-up M260 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol with 306 hp and 400 Nm.
No word on the official launch date nor the pricing strategy for the new hot hatch however we believe that there will be a slight bump in the price tag from the previous-gen model’s RM350k. The bigger question here is, will we see the baby A 35 be available here in Malaysia?
