Video: Hair-raising experience with the Porsche 911 GT3 at Sepang

It can be quite a roller coaster ride in our line of work. Some days we get to attend events that force-feed us with the best food we could never afford to pay for ourselves; some days we pull our hair off just thinking of the right words to say in our articles.

But then every once in a while, we’re offered test drives in cars that most times we only get to see in pictures – like this 991.2 Porsche 911 GT3 – on Sepang no less!

At the Porsche Open Track Day event, not only were Porsche owners invited to open the taps on their 911s, the company also organised an a handover ceremony of eight Porsche 911 GT3 RS’ to its new owners – where they even received personalised crash helmets to go with their new car.

The Porsche 911 GT3 seen here is powered by a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six, up from 3.8-litre, with output rated at 500 hp and 460 Nm of torque where power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels.

0 to 100 km/h takes just a brisk 3.4 seconds with the PDK gearbox available as standard, while the “no-cost option” manual transmission does it in 3.9 seconds. The price for engineering brilliance starts from RM1.7 million excluding insurance.
