While Jaguar’s XE SV Project 8 may hold the record on the legendary circuit as the fastest saloon with a time of 7 minutes and 21.23 seconds, Mercedes-AMG has set a new record with the GT 63 S 4MATIC+, as the world’s fastest series production four-seater.

The car set an official time of 7:25:41, with former racing driver and AMG Development Engineer Demian Schaffert behind the wheel of the 639 hp machine unveiled midway through the year.

The “four-door coupe” as it is referred to, makes 639 hp and 900 Nm of torque from a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, delivering power to all four wheels. 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.2 seconds, before it breaks the 300 km/h barrier with a top speed of 315 km/h.
