Jaguar’s I-PACE electric vehicle crowned as Germany’s Car of the Year

Jaguar’s first fully electric vehicle was acknowledged with the inaugural award, after emerging tops in a group of five finalists.

The Jaguar I-PACE edged ahead of its competition consisting of the Peugeot 508, Audi A6, Volkswagen Touareg and the hydrogen-powered Hyundai Nexo. The group of five finalists were chosen from a pool of 59 cars introduced in the German market over the past year.

Panelists and judges rewarded the I-PACE for its groundbreaking blend of driving dynamics, performance and style.

“The Jaguar I-PACE is not only the first premium electric vehicle from an established manufacturer, it also makes uncompromising use of the advantages of an electrified vehicle architecture. Its performance is impressive, and its design and practicality stands out, which is why the I-PACE ultimately was the winner against strong competition,” said German Car of the Year Award Jury Member, Jens Meiners.

“We are extremely proud to receive this honour from the German media for our first fully electric vehicle, the Jaguar I-PACE. To get such an award in the homeland of premium brands is very precious,” said Jaguar Land Rover CEO, Prof. Dr. Ralf Speth.
