SpyBuzz: Mercedes-Benz CLS spotted, Malaysia to get CLS 450 4MATIC?

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) is gearing up for a new product launch as seen on their recent teasers posted on social media. Today’s trailer sighting confirms that it will be none other than the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLS.

Mounted on a trailer with a Mercedes-AMG E 63 S sedan, the CLS we see here is not the CLS 53 AMG as told by the standard multispoke wheels and the lack of AMG lettering on the brake callipers. Factoring out the diesel models and we are left with the CLS 450 4MATIC variant.

The CLS 450 4MATIC is powered by a 3.0-litre bi-turbo in-line six pushing out 367 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The new six-cylinder mill is boosted by an EQ Boost 48-volt onboard electrical system giving it an additional 22 hp and 250 Nm. Power is transferred to all four-wheels allowing the CLS 450 4MATIC to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

This particular unit wears the Edition 1 badge on the front fenders which tells us that it will receive extra goodies such as Copper Art interior design with Black Pearl Nappa leather upholstery, black open-pored ash wood interior trim as well an IWC analogue clock centrepiece.

The previous-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS 400 was priced at a shade under RM600k when it was on sale in 2015. Expect MBM to do their best to position the new CLS at similar price bracket but all will be revealed when the car is officially launched.
