Honda Malaysia delivered 51,354 new cars in 1H 2018, City most popular

Honda Malaysia is on track to achieve its sales target of 109,000 units for 2018 following healthy sales performance in the first half of this year. In the first six months of 2018, Honda Malaysia delivered 51,354 new cars, allowing the company to maintain its lead in the non-national segment for 1H 2018.

The Honda City stood out as the most popular model with over 15,400 units sold or 30 per cent of total sales, a 7 per cent increase from the same period last year. Following closely behind are the HR-V and CR-V which accounted for 16 per cent and 13 per cent of total sales, respectively. Additionally, all locally assembled Honda models (City, Jazz, BR-V, HR-V, CR-V, Civic and Accord) maintained their leadership position in their respective segment.

In the month of June, when the new Pakatan Harapan Government announced that the Goods & Services Tax to be zero-rated, Honda Malaysia received the highest number of bookings in its history with 20,000 units booked. As a result, the company has to extend the waiting period for certain models for up to four months.

Moving forward, the company has previewed their next and final model launch for 2018, the Honda HR-V facelift in early July. Order books for the refreshed SUV are now open at all 95 authorised Honda dealers nationwide.
