At the launch of the all-new G30 BMW 5 Series, BMW Malaysia has expressed that a cheaper locally assembled variant is underway. Six months later, they delivered. Introducing the locally assembled 530i M Sport, yours for RM388,800 a full RM10k cheaper than before.
Like before, BMW Malaysia continues to offer the business athlete in a sole 530i M Sport variant. Compared to the CBU units the CKD 5 Series only loses out on Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function. Other than that, the specification list is dittos the fully imported units.

To recap, the 530i CKD gets the M Sport which adds M Sport aerodynamic body kit, M Sport brake and 19-inch M light-alloy wheels to the exterior. Hop inside, one will find the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen display, 600W 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system, GPS navigation, powered sunroof, ambient lighting and four-zone climate control intact. Oh, the the CKD model also comes with the futuristic BMW Display Key.
The 530i is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with BMW TwinPower turbo with 252 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Century sprint is completed in 6.2 seconds while top speed is electronically cut at 250 km/h. Drive is sent exclusively to the rear-wheels via an eight-speed automatic. The Adaptive mode that automatically adjust damping levels according to your driving style and the route ahead is also present in the locally assembled 5 Series.
On the safety front, other than the Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, the 530i CKD still comes with Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Approach Control Warning & Person Warning with City Brake function, front and rear parking sensors as well as reverse camera. Pretty impressive to say the least.
Available colours include Alpine White, Mediterranean Blue, Sophisto Grey two additional colours, Carbon Black Metallic and Bluestone Metallic.
