BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M Black Fire Edition unveiled, all black super SAVs!

Everyone’s obsession with black is creating a weird trend of names. Mercedes-Benz and Audi calls theirs the Black Series and Black Edition respectively, and now BMW wants to join in the fun with the BMW X5 M and X6 M Black Fire Editions.

New to the Black Fire Editions are mainly cosmetic enhancements, beginning with the Sapphire Black metallic paint job that comes with carbon fibre wing caps and black chrome trim on the double kidney front grille. Both the X5 M and X6 M sit on 21-inch forged M alloy wheels, also finished in black.

The black theme continues inwards, with the use of black Merino leather for the seats that’s contrasted in Mugello Red highlights with red seams. BMW M Performance Alcantara and the Black Fire logos are also included for the interior.

Nothing is changed under the hood, so it retains the  4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that pushes out 575 hp and 750 Nm of torque. Power is transferred to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Dynamic Performance Control system transfers torque to the rear wheels, making it a rear-biased super SUV. Performance wise, it reaches 100 km/h from standstill in 4.2 seconds

Both the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M Black Fire editions are available in August, although no pricing has been announced as yet.
