Jaguar’s new 2.0L turbo is good for 296 hp & 400 Nm, closer to AMG-levels!

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) finally adds another Ingenium petrol engine to their powertrain lineup, this time with a new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol. It will power the XE, XFF-Pace and F-Type models and will propel these cars to 100 km/h in less than six seconds.

Built at JLR’s Engine Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, UK, the engine produces 296 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Power is channelled to the driveshaft via an eight-speed automatic transmission sourced from ZF. Sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in the F-Pace takes 6.0 seconds flat while the XF business saloon gets there in 5.6 seconds. The XE sports saloon is the quickest among the lot, taking only 5.5 seconds to hit the 100 km/h mark.

JLR also claims that this new 296 hp 2.0-litre turbo returns 6.9 to 7.7 litres per 100 km despite the added performance, thanks to JLR’s latest engine technologies such as a twin-scroll turbine and a high flow compressor wheel.

Besides the new engine option, 2018 models of the XF and XE will come with added features of Gesture Boot Lid, Configurable Dynamics (allows the driver to personalise gearbox, throttle and steering settings), Forward Vehicle Guidance and Forward Traffic Detection.

Currently, Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has all three models on sale: XE from RM340k, XF from RM450k and the F-Pace from RM599k.
