Together with the launch of the Volkswagen Vento Allstar and Vento GT, Volkswagen Passenger Car Malaysia (VPCM) also introduced the updated Beetle.
Just two variants will go on sale – the Design and Sport trims, both sharing the same 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission. The engine produces 104 hp and 175 Nm of torque.
Standard on both Beetles are the 16-inch “Whirl” alloy wheels with 215/60 Bridgestone Turanza tyres, body-coloured dashboard, leather-wrapped steering wheel and keyless entry. The Design Package gives you “Pepita” fabric seats, halogen reflector headlamps, manual air conditioning and a 5.8-inch touchscreen display with 8 speakers.
The Sport Package comes with a larger 6.5-inch Composition Media head unit (also with 8 speakers) with App Connect, enabling Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link functions. This is the only variant that comes with the bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, paddle shifters, cruise control, lumbar support for the front seats, “Vienna” leather seats and dual-zone Climatronic air-conditioning.
The Volkswagen Beetle Design retails for RM137,620.00 whereas the Beetle Sport costs RM148,620.00. Both prices have taxes and registration fees accounted for but excludes insurance. Each purchase comes with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty package, 5-year roadside assist with a service interval of 15,000 km.
It’s fully imported and comes in a variety of colours – Pure White, Tornado Red, Blue Silk, Dark Bronze, Habanero Orange and White Silver.
