New RM130 million BMW Regional Parts Distribution Centre opens in Senai

BMW Group Malaysia officially opened the doors to their new Regional Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) in Senai, Johor. With an investment of over RM130 million, the 775,000 sq ft facility will support the after sales operations of 23 countries (listed below).

The logistics warehouse sits in the Free Industrial Zone (5 minutes’ drive from Senai International Airport) and is home to an inventory comprised of after sales parts, components and lifestyle merchandises for BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad. To date, the Group has engaged 55 local service providers with an annual contract value in excess of RM25 million.

But how does the PDC benefit BMW customers? Well, you can expect better availability and faster lead times in after sales support. Distribution is motorised through land, air and sea, benefiting no less than 23 countries:

Malaysia Singapore Thailand South Korea
Australia New Zealand Indonesia Taiwan
Hong Kong Macau Philippines Brunei
Laos Cambodia Myanmar Vietnam
Bangladesh Mongolia Sri Lanka Tahiti
New Caledonia Fiji Guam

CEO of Malaysian Investment Development Authority, Dato’ Azman Mahmud said, “This new Regional Parts Distribution Centre is very timely in capturing the growing market opportunities in the region, especially with the existing free trade agreements and the upcoming Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. We are extremely proud that BMW has recognised Johor to be a strategic location to meet its burgeoning regional demands.”

The new centre was completed in December 2016 and is expected to create 120 new job opportunities.
