Jaguar I-Pace an all-electric SUV, 700 Nm, boasts 500km e-range

Remember the full electric SUV Jaguar I-Pace Concept that was unveiled late last year? Well, Jaguar’s first full-electric car is now a reality, and the I-Pace has already been put through its paces on the streets of London.

To add to that, the company has also opened the order books for the I-Pace in the UK. It will make its official global debut later this year, with deliveries scheduled to begin as soon as Q2 2018.

Jaguar’s Director of Design, Ian Callum said, “The feedback on the I-PACE Concept has been fantastic. With the I-PACE Concept, we’ve torn up the rule book to create a vehicle with supercar inspired aesthetics, sports car performance and SUV space, in one electric package. It has surprised people and the enthusiasm for our first electric vehicle has been beyond all my expectations.”

The I-Pace is powered by two electric motors, one on each axle. They produce a combined output of 395 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The all-wheel drive SUV is able to accelerate to 100 km/h in around 4 seconds. Thanks to the sleek and aerodynamic design, the I-Pace boasts a drag coefficient of only 0.29 cd.

Packed with a liquid-cooled 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the I-Pace is expected to offer over 500 km of driving range (based on NEDC cycle). A full charge can be achieved in just over two hours while 80 percent charge capacity is achieved in just 90 minutes when plugged to a 50 kW DC charging port.

Full details of the Jaguar I-Pace including pricing and specifications will be revealed at the end of the year. If the Jaguar SUV range piques your interest, Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has the next best thing that’s actually on sale right now, the Jaguar F-Pace.
