New Mitsubishi SUV teased: Could this be the next-gen ASX?

Mitsubishi is set to take centre stage at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show with the unveiling of an all-new SUV. It’s not yet known what the actual vehicle may be, but a replacement for the ASX seems right about timely, we think.

What’s most exciting about the image above is the sleek-cut silhouette; tapering roofline, strong character line draped in a sultry coat of red metallic paintwork. The front and tail end of the car seem angular and is in line with Mitsubishi’s current Dynamic Shield design philosophy. Expect a fascia similar to that of the Outlander.

The new model could be the final version of the XR-PHEV II concept unveiled in Geneva two years ago, or better yet, the production model of it. My current best guess is that we could be looking at Mitsubishi’s answer to the increasingly popular compact crossover segment, such as the Mazda CX-3, Honda HR-V, and the new Toyota C-HR.

All will be revealed – including the model’s name and its powertrain – when Mitsubishi takes the covers off it on 7 March 2017.
