BMW M Performance upgrades for BMW G30 5-Series feature more carbon & more power

Last month, BMW unveiled the all-new seventh-generation BMW 5-Series that is expected to hit showroom floors come 2017. However, BMW is not going to wait till then to announce the BMW M Performance upgrades for the G30 5-Series.

The M Performance upgrades encompasses an aerodynamic bodykit, lightweight wheels, power boost, and silencer system. Good news is, these upgrades are available for all variants of the G30 ranging from the 530i to the 530d xDrive. Starting from the exterior upgrades, the aerodynamic bodykit includes carbon fibre attachment parts for the front bumper, side sills, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. Alternatively, the rear spoiler and rear diffuser can be had in polyurethane (PUR). This upgrade not only enhances the visual appeal for the 5-series but also optimises driving dynamics.

Additionally, there are also pure aesthetic upgrades including a Black M Performance grille, carbon fibre wing mirror caps, black M Performance bars for the brake channels, and side sill stickers with M Performance inscription. Completing the M Performance exterior upgrades are the 20-inch lightweight, dual-tone, double-spoke design alloy wheels wrapped in mixed tyre sizes of 245/35 R20 on the front and 275/30 R20 at the rear.2016 BMW G30 5-Series M-Performance Unveiled

Jumping to the inside, the steering wheel can be upgraded to an Alcantara-wrapped BMW M Performance sports steering wheel with a red central marking and silver-grey stitching. For models fitted with the 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission, the sports steering wheel will come with paddle shifters.

Along with the fast-looking aesthetic bits, BMW’s M Performance Power and Sound Kit gives the G30 5-Series a dose of power boost. When fitted onto the 540i and 540i xDrive’s B58 six-cylinder 3.0-litre mill, power output is uprated by 15 hp and 50 Nm to a total of 355 hp and 500 Nm of torque. On the 530d and 530d xDrive, the kit adds 27 hp and 30 Nm to the six-cylinder turbodiesel resulting in a final output of 288 hp and 650 Nm. With the added performance, BMW claims that fuel consumption and emission figures remains the same.

To complement the higher outputs, BMW will also be offering M Performance sports brake system for better stopping power. A set of inner vented, perforated lightweight construction brake discs with 4-piston fixed caliper brakes made of aluminium is specified on the front axle while the rear axle is fitted with a single-piston floating caliper brakes. Naturally, these exclusive brake calipers are finished in red.2016 BMW G30 5-Series M-Performance Unveiled

For petrol variants of the G30 5-Series, there is a M Performance Silencer system available as an option to promote engine acoustics. The Silencer system connects to either circular or trapezoid tailpipe outlet finished in either chrome or carbon fibre. On the other hand, for diesel variants, BMW has the M Performance exhaust system Active Sound for the same purpose. Like the M Performance Silencer system, the diesel system is connected to either circular or trapezoid tailpipe outlet finished in either chrome or carbon fibre.

Original M Performance Accessories for the G30 5-Series will be available during the market launch of the vehicle. So folks, what do you think of the M Performance package for the 5-Series? Is the extra grunt worthy of your extra buck? Remember, it does not void the manufacturer’s warranty.
