Ford Mustang launched in Malaysia, priced at RM489k and RM599k

The American stallion has finally arrived in Malaysia (in a quiet way), following an announcement made by Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC). Two variants are on sale beginning today, starting with the 2.3-litre EcoBoost and 5.0-litre V8. Pricing begins from RM488,888.00.

For the first time since the Mustang was conceived, it’s now finally available with a right-hand drive and sold beyond the borders of the United States. The pony was previewed in Publika last year but it took like a year later for SDAC to officially unveil the car here. Malaysia is one of the selected few countries in Asia to receive the Mustang.Ford_Mustang_in_Malaysia (3)

For Malaysians, two engine options are offered. If turbo power is what you’re seeking, there’s a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine that deploys 315 hp and 432 Nm of torque. Muscle car purist will crave for the 5.0-litre V8 solution that liberates 414 hp and 530 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a six-speed SelectShift automatic with paddle shifters.

Apart from the gearbox, the new Mustang also receives active grille shutter to save fuel and SYNC2 connectivity system which is also available in the Focus we recently reviewed.

Safety kit is decent as well. The Mustang is equipped with AdvanceTrac with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS), Post-Crash Alert System, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and eight airbags.Ford_Mustang_in_Malaysia (2)

The Mustang is available in five colours: Race Red, Oxford White, Shadow Black, Deep Impact Blue, and Magnetic; the V8 variant gets the special Triple Yellow Tri-Coat paint. The all-American muscle car (yes, it’s assembled at Ford’s plant in the United States) begins at RM488,888.00 for the 2.3-litre EcoBoost variant, while the 5.0-litre V8 can be had for RM598,888.00. All prices are OTR but excludes insurance.
