Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4L launched in Malaysia, CBU priced at RM167k

So it’s finally here, just as Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) promised. Just over a month after it was previewed, the all-new Japan imported Mitsubishi Outlander (formerly called the Airtrek) gets an introductory price tag of RM166,720, and only one trim will be offered.

To recap, a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine is tasked with moving this seven-seater people carrier. The MIVEC engine belts 166 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 222 Nm of torque peaking in at 4,100 rpm. It’s a four-wheel drive SUV too, and power is sent to all four corners through the company’s own Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Launch - AutoBuzz.my

How does the Outlander fare against some of its fiercest rival, like for instance the Nissan X-Trail? Playing in Mitsubishi’s favour are features such as full LED headlamps, electric tailgate, powered sunroof, sleek 18-inch alloy wheels and complete leather upholstery for all three rows of seats. It has a class leading cargo bay, capable of swallowing up to 1,608 litres of goods with the second and third row seats folded flat.

The Outlander is also pretty well equipped on the safety side of things. It comes standard with seven airbags (including a knee airbag for the driver), Active Stability and Traction Control, Hill-Start Assist, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist and a wholly reinforced structure. 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Launch - AutoBuzz.my

Three colours can be had for this looker – Red Metallic, White Pearl and Grey Metallic. It’s available for viewing and test drive at all authorised Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide. The introductory price will not be offered after 31 May 2016, though, so expect a marginal price increase come June.

MMM will be displaying the Outlander at the Centre Court of Mid Valley Megamall from 20 to 24 April 2016. Unless you’ve seen the car in person, be sure to get a better idea of how this car appeals to some of the special guests we have in the videos below. Enjoy!
