Proton has announced a nationwide recall of close to 100,000 units of CFE-powered models such as Exora, Preve and Suprima S mainly due to a faulty oil cooler hose. Apparently, the national carmaker is adamant on completing all repair works within a six-month period.
It’s understood that the oil cooler hose is prone to breakage after clocking 40,000km, and the main cause of this is the degradation of another hose within in, caused by poor heat tolerance. To put it simply, the hoses weren’t able to withstand the high heat generated by the engine.
In an effort to raise customer ownership experience, Proton will bear the repair costs in full (subjected to warranty, as we were told), and affected owners are encouraged to bring their vehicles to the nearest authorised service centres to get it rectified. For those not covered by the factory warranty, you will still be entitled for replacement, but this is subjected to your service interval.
The breakdown of the recall is as follow:
- Proton Exora – 59,663 units
- Proton Preve – 28,642 units
- Proton Suprima S – 6,290 units
