Renault returns to F1, unveils its gorgeous new RS16 machine

Formula One’s most successful engine manufacturer, Renault, is set to make a return as constructor this 2016 season with the unveiling of their new RS16. The team is now known as Renault Sport F1, and the team’s goal is to be on the podium within three years.

Renault has had a rich history in Formula One, more notably as an engine supplier to winning teams such as Benetton, Williams, and most recently Red Bull Racing. The team bought over the struggling Lotus F1 team, which was actually the former Renault team before the French manufacturer scaled down in 2011.2016 Renault Sport F1 RS16

Also revealed are the two new drivers for the team, Jolyon Palmer and Kevin Magnussen. The latter replaces Pastor Maldonaldo whose contract had been terminated due to sponsorship issues. As part of the Renault group, there’s little surprise to sport Infinity logos on the new RS16. Infiniti has pulled out from Red Bull Racing to become Renault Sport’s technical partner.

The livery, predominantly in black scheme has little shades of yellow. That said, the team has hinted that the livery could be changed before the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in March.2016 Renault Sport F1 RS16

“We have the resources, we have the team, we have the organisation, we have the spirit. Renault is back to win,” said Renault Sport President Jerome Stoll.

Bon retour, Renault Sport!
