All-new Nissan NP300 Navara coming to Malaysia in November!

Nissan’s all-new, 12th generation Nissan NP300 Navara will be storming to Malaysian shores as early as next month. This follows after the pickup truck’s introduction to other markets like Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and most recently Europe at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. With more than 14 million units sold over the course of 80 years, the Navara is certainly one of Nissan’s bread and butter models.

Under the hood of the new Navara is Nissan’s improved version of the 2.5-litre diesel engine (codename YD25) making a good 187 hp and 450 Nm of torque from just 2,000 rpm. It appears that we won’t be getting the twin-turbocharged 2.3-litre dCi engine after all, then. It’s paired to a first-in-class seven-speed automatic transmission with manual mode or a six-speed manual gearbox, and it’s available in either two-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. It’s also the first Japanese pickup fitted with a multi-link type rear suspension for a more SUV-like handling and comfort.2015-Nissan-Navara-Frankfurt-05

Edaran Tan Chong Malaysia (ETCM) has hinted that the Malaysian-bound NP300 will get full LED headlights with the distinctive boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, including the boldly chromed “V-motion” grille, whereas the rear will settle for a new spoiler. Other noteworthy features include Nissan’s highly rated Zero Gravity Inspired Seats (possibly the most comfortable pickup yet) and dual zone air-conditioning with rear air vents.

More details of the interior will come as we inch closer to the launch date, but Nissan claims that the cabin is nearly as practical as that of a car, which to us is quite a significant statement to make. On the flip side, the Navara boasts having a towing capacity of 3,500kg, with the rear bed capable of hauling nearly 1,000kg of goods. 2015-Nissan-Navara-Frankfurt-08

ETCM made no mention of its official arrival as yet, but trust us to bring you the latest development of the NP300 Navara. While we eagerly anticipate its arrival, Nissan’s latest pickup will be touring the country beginning next week, so be sure to catch it in person!
