Khan Design’s bespoke “Flying Huntsman 6×6” Land Rover Defender on sale for RM1.25 million

In early 2013 Mercedes-Benz stunned the world when it showcased the G63 AMG 6×6 behemoth of a truck. People gasped at the thought of a six-wheeled 540hp G-wagon running around and crushing cars. But therein lies also the factor of rarity, for which only a handful of the bespoke wagon will be built.

Having said that, there is a firm that goes by the name of Khan Design and is notable for customising and selling anything from a million Pound Bugatti Veyron to a tricked out Jeep Wrangler Sahara. In keeping with the times, their latest creation is based on rather a humble Land Rover Defender. The end result is the Flying Huntsman 6×6, dubbed “Prototype Mission I”.2015-Flying-Huntsman-Defender-02

What Khan has done is strip and gut the aforementioned Defender and elongated the chassis by 400mm to support the additional axle. A bespoke built rear cab is then bolted in place. In place of what used to be an oil-burning lump is hence replaced with GM-sourced LS3, 6.2-litre V8 engine from a Chevrolet Corvette that kicks out the better part of 500 stallions, but there was no mention of its transmission.

Khan has indicated that the Flying Huntsman will be “all-wheel-drive”, making this a true 6×6 brute. Just as you would expect from its deutch competitor, the Flying Huntsman has a custom built interior that would make any Italian seamstress hot under the collar.2015-Flying-Huntsman-Defender-06

The front seats are a pair of sports GTB seats that are upholstered in quilted and perforated leather finished in a hue termed as Volcanic Rock Satin – not forgetting also the tweed fabric inserts. Further back, the passenger seats, dashboard top, grab handles, door card inserts, trimings, glovebox and even the headlining is wrapped in the same fashion as those GTB sports seats upfront.

The attention to detail is uncanny no doubt, however there are a couple of problems. Firstly, The Flying Huntsman is strictly made to order and the example we see here already put on sale. Which leads us onto the second hitch. It costs £200,000 (or RM 1,255,736). But if you’re Dan Bilzerian and already purchased a £370,000 (RM 2,323,111) G63 AMG 6×6 while wanting something smaller that’s also a 6×6 runabout option, then this car is just for you.
