Ford Malaysia’s sales improved in May after GST slump in April

Ford Malaysia has announced that their sales performance in May took a turn for the better, recording over 71 percent of growth from the previous month at 639 units.

This feat is achieved through the strong performance of the Ranger, Focus, Fiesta and EcoSport models. The Ranger soldiers on as the brand’s most well received model, with sales almost twice as much as in April at 413 units. Overall year-to-date sales for the Ranger rose about 40 percent compared to the same period last year at 4,128 units. Sales of the EcoSport on the other hand, rose 44 percent over the previous month to 82 units, whereas the newly launched Mondeo had just started deliveries.

Ford Motor Company’s Managing Director of Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Mr David Westerman said, “Through May, we’ve maintained positive growth over our record year in 2014, and we’re confident this momentum will continue to build, as we refresh our current lineup with the new Ranger and Everest, and add the Mustang to our growing showroom.”

Ford Malaysia’s collective year-to-date sales have increased eight percent to 5,623 units so far.
