Mazda CX-5 sales figure surpasses one-millionth mark!



First introduced in November 2011, Mazda’s CX-5 mid-size crossover SUV featured something by the name of KODO or Soul of Motion which is a design philosophy the folks at Mazda have employed in the styling department. By the end of April 2015 they had sold over 1,000,000 units!

Closer to home though, the Mazda CX-5 Facelift is set to launch soon in CBU guise and carries an estimated price tag of RM168k for the two-wheel drive version whilst the all-wheel model checked the book at RM178k OTR inclusive of GST. Out-of-the box it included Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH) alongside a pair of Day-time Running Lights first seen on the Mazda 2.

The interior is a very pleasant place to be surrounded by if stuck in KL’s ever rampant and unavoidable traffic congestion. Optional white or black leather upholstery wraparound that snugly cradles you in place so you can take advantage of the excellent ride quality.

The CX-5 now incorporates an Electrical Parking Brake (EPB) system. The dashboard’s design remains unchanged from the pre-face lift.As a safety feature the CX-5 comes with Head Up Display and MZD Connect car connectivity system displayed on a touch screen display unit.

On the subject of performance, the CX-5 isn’t a slouch with the SKYACTIV engine powering it along. Available in three configurations; the 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G petrol with two states of tune (158 hp or 163 hp), 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G petrol with 189 hp, and a 2.2-liter SKYACTIV-D diesel with 148 hp or 173 hp mated to either a six-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE automatic with Drive Selection or a six-speed SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual transmission.
