The folks at MINI have announced the arrival of a new entry-level model for its 5-door variant, dubbed the MINI One First 5 door. Not much about the car is known for now, but this entry-level MINI is to be economical, hence the employment of an all-new 1.2-litre, three cylinder engine.

The three cylinder engine, despite being small in displacement, benefits from the carmaker’s MINI TwinPower Turbo technology. In short, it makes 75 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque that’s readily available from as low as 1,400 rpm. It propels the MINI to the 100 km/h mark from standstill at a respectable 13.4 seconds. A six-speed manual transmission is the way to go here, and that drives the front wheels whilst returning an average fuel consumption of 5.2 litres per 100 km.
In November last year, MINI Malaysia introduced the Cooper S 5 Door model to our shores. Do you think the One First 5 Door will make its way here?
