Volkswagen T-Cross compact SUV to debut in early 2019

The countdown for the global premiere of the new Volkswagen T-Cross compact SUV has begun with the official market launch to happen in early 2019. The baby SUV will be introduced with the slogan “I am more” that covers four aspects “I am practical”, “I am cool”, “I am intuitive” and “I am safe”.

In the latest teaser video, Volkswagen talks a little more about the design language of the T-Cross, highlighting its charismatic and masculine appearance. The new SUV will get some of the brand’s family language such as wide radiator grille and sharp character lines.

We know that the T-Cross will adopt the group’s MQB platform, measures 4,107 mm in length and is strictly front-wheel driven. The ergonomics of the interior was extensively tested to ensure that the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3 rival will have one of the most spacious interiors in its class.

There will be no less than 12 exterior colour options of the T-Cross and bi-colour paintwork is also available as an option when the car is launched. The cabin will also feature a two-tone interior and based on the sketches, it appears to be a carbon copy of the larger T-Roc’s cabin. Sporty and funky is the name of the game here.

The Volkswagen T-Roc was a big hit in Europe, raking in over 40,000 orders in the first four months after its debut. The smaller T-Cross will cater to a different group of clienteles who prefers to commute in a smaller sized SUV. Question is, will it replicate the same success story written by the T-Roc?
