You may have been aware that Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) recently launched three facelifted models of the Golf – the TSI, the GTI and the most powerful of all, the Golf R.
There was supposed to be a R-Line variant to the TSI but it was never revealed then but now it’s been launched at the Malaysia Autoshow 2018 in MAEPS, Serdang and is opened for public viewing.
Priced at RM 166,990 (OTR without insurance), the Golf’s aesthetics has been enhanced with R-Line front and rear bumpers, rear spoiler, R-Line badges on the radiator grille and the fenders and most notably 17-inch “Singapore” alloy wheels.
Strange name to give a set of wheels but there is nothing strange about its performance. The 1.4-litre TSI engine mated to a 7-speed dry clutch DSG transmission produces 148 hp and 250 Nm of torque. 
Elsewhere, you get automatic Full LED head and tail lights; only the rear comes with dynamic turn indicators. Inside, the Golf TSI is equipped with fabric seats, a 12.3-inch HD Active Info Display, and an 8-inch touchscreen display linked to 8 speakers along with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
For added convenience, the Golf TSI R-Line is fitted with eight parking sensors (4 front & 4 rear) while passenger safety is safeguarded by seven airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
The Golf TSI R-Line comes with 3-years Free Maintenance, 5-years Manufacturer’s Warranty and 5-years Roadside Assistance.
