The all-new Audi A8 will arrive UK shores in early 2018 and here is how the UK-bound luxury sedans will look like – three 3.0-litre V6, a 4.0-litre V8 and a 6.0-litre W12. As promised at launch, all four engine choices will have some form of electrification system strapped on for improved fuel economy.
In the UK, the all-new A8 will be available in standard A8 or long wheelbase A8 L version. As standard, all variants will come with an extensive list of equipment such 10.1-inch touchscreen display, Audi Virtual Cockpit, coloured heads-up display, Audi Connect with MMI Navigation Plus, wireless charging tray among others.
Occupants will find supple Valcona comfort seats with adjustable climate function while the A8 L gets the option for relaxation seat which features four different adjustment options and a footrest for the rear passengers. Rear passengers can also control an array of functions through the smartphone-sized remote control.
The list of onboard driver aids also includes adaptive cruise assist with Stop&Go, front and rear parking sensors supplemented by a rear camera, lane departure warning with emergency assist, Audi Pre-sense collision avoidance and mitigation system, Audi AI traffic jam pilot, Audi AI garage pilot and Audi AI parking pilot.
At launch, the UK-specification A8 will be available with a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel TDI with 282 hp and a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 TFSI with 335 hp. The 4.0-litre V8 turbodiesel TDI with 429 hp and 6.0-litre W12 with 577 hp will be available at a later date. As reported earlier, all variants of the A8 will feature some form of electrification and Audi has held onto their word.
For the environmentally friendly taukes, a plug-in hybrid e-Tron option will be announced at an even later date. The e-Tron PHEV features a 3.0-litre TFSI married to an electric motor to give a combined output of 443 hp and 700 Nm of twisting force. The battery pack is capable of giving the A8 L 50 km of electric driving range.
Prices for the Audi A8 starts from £69,100 (RM387k) before options. Audi Malaysia had the previous generation A8 and A8 Lon sale hence it is only a matter of time before this beauty hits our shores.
