2017 MINI JCW Countryman unveiled, AWD, 231 hp & 350 Nm!

The second-generation MINI Countryman has just gotten a fat dose of steroids, because not only is it the largest MINI model to ever exist, it’s also the fastest, largest ever MINI model to be made. Enter the 2017 MINI John Cooper Works Countryman.

This Countryman gets the tried and tested twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, deploying 231 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Buyers can either opt for the eight-speed Steptronic auto or the six-speed manual.

It’s only available as a crossover and will sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds, or about 0.8 seconds quicker than the Cooper S Countryman ALL4. Also, the new model is 0.5 seconds quicker than the outgoing JCW Countryman it replaces.

Apart from the usual JCW Aerodynamics kit, it receives a sports exhaust, sports suspension with Brembo brakes, 18-inch wheels and JCW-themed interior. Variable damper control is available as an option, though.

The MINI JCW Countryman will be showcased at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show in April prior to market introduction. Suffice to say, the new Countryman range will undoubtedly make its way to Malaysia, so stay tuned!
