Isuzu D-Max facelift launched in Malaysia, 8 variants, priced from RM83k to RM128k

After holding its ground in the pickup truck segment since 2013, the Isuzu D-Max was showing signs of ageing amidst stiff competition from key rivals. Although there was a limited edition Isuzu D-Max Beast early this year, the 360 limited units isn’t quite the refresher the D-Max needed.

Yesterday, Isuzu Malaysia officially unveiled the facelifted Isuzu D-Max, adding yet another choice for shoppers in the pickup truck segment who are looking for a robust yet feature-packed workhorse. How feature packed, you ask? How does ESC, VSC, touchscreen infotainment system with 8-speakers and a reverse camera, all standard across the range, sound to you?2016 Isuzu D-Max Facelift Launch

PERFORMANCE

No changes were made to the mechanics of the D-Max. The same tried and tested 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre turbodiesel make their way into the D-Max facelift. In the 2.5-litre mill, drivers will get 134 hp and 320 Nm of driving force while the 3.0-litre mill produces 174 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Power is channelled to the wheels via a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission.2016 Isuzu D-Max Facelift Launch

Drivers can select the drivetrain to be either 2WD-High, 4WD-High or 4WD-Low via an electronic transfer rotary knob located next to the gear leaver. Having the powertrain carried forward from the pre-facelift may not be a bad thing anyway as Isuzu took four Isuzu D-Maxes and travelled 1,809km in one single tank of diesel!2016 Isuzu D-Max Facelift Launch
