First Look: Mazda3 CKD 2.0L Skyactiv-G Hatchback [+Video]

We’ve waited quite some time for the locally assembled Mazda3 to hit our showrooms, especially so for those who have been wanting to get their hands on the popular Japanese C-Segment car but were disheartened by the CBU’s RM139k asking price.

Now, the Kulim-assembled Mazda3s are between RM19,000 to RM35,000 cheaper, depending on the variant of your choice. We’ve paid particular attention to the hatch, simply because the good-looker shares the same price tag as the high spec sedan. Also because the hatch is being offered for the first time since the new Skyactiv-based Mazda3 was introduced last March.

A quick glance over the spec sheet will read as such: manual fabric seats, leather wrapped multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, single-zone auto air conditioning, MZD Connect System with 7-inch toucscreen display, six-speakers, keyless entry and push-start button.

Under the bonnet resides the same 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G engine that makes the same numbers as before – 162 hp at 6,000 rpm and 210 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Also carried over is the six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic gearbox, driving the front wheels.
