Smart Malaysia, represented by Pro-Net, has pulled the covers off of the Smart #5 Brabus Laser Red Edition, a new special model for the range topping variant it has been teasing on social media for a while now. But aside from an exclusive new shade of scarlet, not much has been changed with the massive (and not just for Smart standards, mind) SUV, save for a new price tag – more on that at the end.
The model will be available in limited quantities to maintain exclusivity and apart from the new swath of crimson, it retains the rest of the performance, technology and premium features that are standard with the Brabus variant.
Smart Malaysia expounds that the colour appeals to drivers seeking individuality as it accentuates the #5 Brabus’ rugged outlook and unmistakable performance-oriented styling.
“The Smart #5 Brabus has already redefined expectations of what an all-electric performance SUV can be, combining exhilarating power with premium comfort and cutting-edge technology. With the introduction of the new Laser Red Edition, we are offering customers an even more expressive and distinctive way to experience the pinnacle of the Smart brand. Its limited availability makes it a truly special addition to the Smart #5 family,” said Pro-Net chief Executive Officer, Zhang Qiang.

To recap, the #5 Brabus combines a powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that delivers 646 hp and 710 Nm of torque. All that makes it quite the red rocket with a century sprint time of just 3.8 seconds.
Inside, the cabin keeps the premium Alcantara and Dinamica upholstery as well as the advanced digital ecosystem powered by the AMD V2000 chipset, and a comprehensive suite of intelligent safety and driver assistance technologies. The cherry on top is the exclusive Brabus driving mode.

Smart says it has carefully selected the shade of red to reflect the dynamic spirit of the Brabus identity in the model. The finish delivers a rich visual depth that enhances the vehicle’s rugged design without taking anything away from its proven performance and sophisticated character.
While the #5 Brabus Laser Red Edition will be available in limited quantities, Smart Malaysia have not revealed the exact figure. Customers that are interested to own one of the most distinctive variants in the Smart range can hurry and visit their nearest showroom.

As for the revised price tag, the entire Smart #5 lineup here in Malaysia has now seen a RM10k increase to their sticker price, compared to what they were launched with back in November last year. Two variants are available as before, and they’re priced from RM209,800 for the #5 Premium, and RM259,800 for the flagship #5 Brabus, including this new Laser Red Edition.
