Volkswagen Malaysia spices up the Golf GTI with limited edition wheel upgrade

In celebration of the Golf GTI’s 50th anniversary, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) will be offering a limited edition upgrade for the iconic hot hatch, in the form of the exclusive 18-inch five-spoke Huntsville Adamantium Y-spoke dark alloy wheels.

Available to only 50 units of the Golf GTI, the new wheels will be offered as a complimentary upgrade. That means the exclusive model is still priced just the same as before, at RM257,012 on-the-road, without insurance, and inclusive of the Volkswagen Assurance Programme (VAP) five-year warranty and service package.

The new wheels are finished in a striking dark metallic colourway, with the unique Y-spoke design letting the GTI’s red brake callipers peek out more – especially when compared to the stock Richmond wheels that cover up most of the brakes.

Other than the new wheels, everything else on the limited edition model remains completely unchanged as the Mk8.5 model that was launched here in Malaysia late last year. Underneath the bonnet is still the same familiar EA888 Gen 4 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, sending 265 hp and 370 Nm to the front wheels.

In conjunction with the 50-year celebrations, VPCM will also be hosting a variety of activities on social media and dealerships nationwide. Among those is the Test Drive and Win contest, where customers who test drive a Volkswagen model by 12 July 2026 will stand a chance to win a limited edition GTI Touch ‘n Go card (50 units only).
