Debuting internationally over a year ago, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has now finally brought in the new 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk 8.5 to Malaysia. Now sporting fresh looks and more power, the new hatch icon will continue to be locally assembled, and now priced at RM257,012 on the road, without insurance, and inclusive of the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP) five year warranty and service package.
The new 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk 8.5 now sports a new front bumper with a honeycomb mesh grille that gives the car a more fierce and aggressive look. It’s paired to the new “IQ-Light” LED matrix headlights in a sleeker enclosure, complete with a new illuminated “VW” front emblem in between the daytime-running lights. Behind, the LED tail lights also gain a new 3D light signature.
Interestingly, the new Mk8.5 GTI in Malaysia retains the same 18-inch Richmond wheels instead of the Detroit wheels that were seen on international models. Other standard exterior features are as such:

Inside, the interior is still largely the same, although the physical buttons on the steering wheel have made a welcome return here for “better tactile feedback”, Volkswagen says. Along with its 10-inch digital driver display, the central infotainment touchscreen has also been made larger at 12.9 inches, and is paired with climate and volume touch sliders that now illuminate. Standard interior features are as such:

Aside from the cosmetic and tech upgrades, Volkswagen has also given the car a notable performance boost. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine now produces 265 hp, 20 hp more than before, while torque is still rated at 370 Nm. Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels through a recalibrated seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG) and an XDS electronic differential lock, enhancing traction and handling. The result is a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
For added peace of mind during spirited drives, the new Golf GTI comes standard with the marque’s “IQ-Drive” technology. This allows for better-kitted safety features along with a comprehensive suite of ADAS systems, such as:

The new 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk 8.5 is available from RM257,012 on the road, without insurance, and is available in Oryx White, Moonstone Grey, Grenadilla Black, Kings Red, and Anemone Blue exterior hue choices.
Included in the price is the marque’s VAP warranty package, which includes five years/75,000km of free maintenance, five years of mileage warranty, and five years of complimentary roadside assistance. The first 50 customers who register their car before 31 December will also receive an exclusive RM6,000 early bird discount.
