Pro-Net, the new energy subsidiary of Proton, announced that it successfully delivered 3,068 units of the Proton eMAS 5 (stylised as e.MAS 5) in January 2026, its first full month of deliveries. This puts it among the top five best-selling passenger cars for the month. But perhaps more importantly, it’s also the best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in Malaysia for January, capturing a whopping 49.2% BEV market share and 4.5% of total car sales of the month.
Commenting on the achievement, Pro-Net Chief Executive Officer, Zhang Qiang, said, “The encouraging response to the Proton eMAS 5 reflects Malaysians’ continued trust and confidence in the brand, as well as their growing openness towards electric mobility. We are grateful that many Malaysians have embraced the Proton eMAS 5 as a practical and accessible step into electrification”.
The Proton eMAS 5 was launched in two variants, dubbed Prime and Premium, priced from RM59,800 and RM72,800 respectively. Its cutesy appearance might be deceiving, though, as the eMAS 5 actually measures 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm wide, and 1,580 mm tall, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase. These dimensions make the hatchback larger than both the Proton Iriz and the Perodua Myvi.
The interior features a 14.6-inch centre-mounted touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are also 32 individual storage compartments throughout the cabin, including a 20-litre space under the rear bench, a 70-litre frunk, and a boot space of 375 litres, expandable to 1,320 litres.

A rear-mounted electric motor producing 79 hp (58 kW) and 130 Nm powers the Prime variant. This variant is equipped with a 30.12 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack sourced from CATL, providing a range of 225 km (WLTP).
The Premium variant features a more powerful rear motor that produces 116 hp (85 kW) and 150 Nm. It uses a larger 40.16 kWh LFP battery, which increases its range to 325 km (WLTP).
Both variants support 6.6 kW AC charging. This takes 4.3 hours for the Prime and 5.9 hours for the Premium to charge from 10-80%. Regarding DC fast charging, the Prime supports 53 kW while the Premium supports 71 kW. Both variants can be recharged from 30-80% in approximately 21 minutes.

For safety, the Proton eMAS 5 comes with six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a reverse camera, and passive cruise control as standard. The Premium variant gains access to a full suite of ADAS features. This includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and a 360-degree surround view camera with 3D view.
In conjunction with the sales milestone, Pro-Net is offering a festive charging promotion from 14 February to 22 February 2026. During this period, Proton eMAS and Smart Malaysia owners can enjoy a 25% lower charging fee when using the Proton eMAS or Hello smart apps. The lowered prices are reflected directly in the apps, both of which provide access to over 4,300 charging points nationwide.
