Denza, the luxury division of BYD, has sold 300,000 units of the Denza D9 globally – making it one of the fastest-selling new-energy vehicle (NEV) MPV.
The milestone was announced at the company’s “Denza’s Night” gathering in Beijing, China, where the company also announced that the D9 will soon be introduced to the European market as part of a broader global expansion.
First unveiled in August 2022, the Denza D9 is offered globally with both battery electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. For the Malaysian market, the BEV variant was launched in early 2025, available in two variants priced from RM259,000 to RM309,000.
In its home market of China, the Denza D9 is priced from RMB309,800 (approx. RM180k) to RMB526,600 (approx. RM307k). According to CarNewsChina, buyers are overwhelmingly opting for higher specifications, with the top-range model accounting for 41% of total sales.
According to industry analysts, the Denza D9 has outpaced its competitors in terms of delivery speed, reaching the 300,000-unit mark in under three years, a pace 50% faster than its peers in the same segment.

The Denza D9 has also been China’s best-selling MPV for two consecutive years. Denza reports that the model now accounts for nearly 60% of all high-end NEV MPVs sold in the Chinese market.
Closer to home, the base Denza D9 Advance features a front-mounted electric motor producing 313 hp (230 kW) and 360 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 9.5 seconds.
Stepping up to the range-topping Premium variant adds a second electric motor to the rear axle, boosting the combined output to 374 hp (275 kW) and 470 Nm. This power boost slashes the century sprint time down to just 6.9 seconds.

Both variants utilise a 103.36 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which offers an NEDC-rated range of 600 km for the Advance variant and 580 km for the Premium.
Charging capabilities include 11 kW AC input and DC fast charging at up to 166 kW. The latter enables a 30-80% top-up in 30 minutes, or 150 km of added range from just a 10-minute charge.
