Chery Malaysia has launched the Chery Tiggo 7 CSH, a new plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) variant of the Chery Tiggo 7 that claims to deliver up to a combined range of 1,200 km. The new Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV CSH is priced at RM129,800, on-the-road, excluding insurance.
As a new variant to the existing Tiggo 7 lineup in Malaysia, the main difference here is the new Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) powertrain that features a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 143 hp and 215 Nm. This is paired to a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), which houses an electric motor producing 204 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm. Combined, this PHEV CSH powertrain produces 279 hp (205 kW) and 365 Nm of torque. Claimed fuel consumption is 5 L/100 km.
Equipped with an 18.3 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, the Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV CSH boasts a pure EV range of 90 km and a combined range of 1,200 km (NEDC). It supports AC charging at 6.6 kW and DC charging at 40 kW, allowing for a 30-80% recharge in just 19 minutes. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) is also supported at 3.3 kW.
This powertrain is packaged in an exterior based on the facelift revealed globally late last year, which stands out with a different front bumper design, with the daytime-running lights now integrated into the headlights.
At the rear, the taillight clusters get a new design with a light signature similar to the Tiggo Cross. Besides the design changes, key differentiating features from the regular petrol-powered Tiggo 7 include the large “plug-in hybrid” badge on the tailgate, the design of the 18-inch alloy wheels, and the addition of a charging port on the right-rear panel. The Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV CSH is priced at RM129,800. Three exterior colours are available: Phantom Grey, Khaki White, and Blood Stone Red with a Black Roof, with the latter costing an additional RM2,000. Compared to the regular petrol-powered Chery Tiggo 7, the new PHEV variant is RM6,000 dearer.
Included in the price is a seven-year or 150,000 km warranty, an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty for the battery power pack, power motor, and hybrid control unit with a one-to-one exchange if the battery’s state of health falls below 70% during the warranty period, and five years of free labour service.
