After being confirmed for the Thai market, it seems the fully electric (EV) Mazda 6e is now slated for launch in Indonesia, according to a report by Otodriver.
Speaking to the publication, PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia Chief Operation Officer Ricky Thio said that the Mazda 6e will be among the electrified models – developed in collaboration with Chinese manufacturers – that Mazda will introduce to the archipelago. PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia is the official distributor of Mazda vehicles in Indonesia.
The Mazda 6e, also known as the Mazda EZ-6 in China, is Mazda’s “first global new energy vehicle (NEV)”, and is the product of a collaboration between the Japanese carmaker and China’s Changan Automobile. Fundamentally, the Mazda 6e is based on the Deepal SL03, sold under Changan’s premium EV subsidiary.
As the successor to the Mazda 6, the Mazda 6e is offered exclusively as an EV for global markets, although plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants are also available in China. In terms of its EV powertrain, two variants are offered, both powered by a rear-mounted electric motor.

The line-up starts with the base model with 258 hp (190 kW) and 320 Nm, paired to a 68.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, providing 479 km (WLTP) of range.
This is followed by Long Range variant, which curiously, is equipped with a less powerful electric motor that produces 245 hp (180 kW) and 320 Nm. This is paired with a larger 80 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack, increasing the range to 552 km (WLTP).
Charging-wise, the base Mazda 6e supports DC charging at 200 kW, allowing it to recharge from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes. However, despite having a larger battery, the Long Range variant only supports DC charging at 95 kW, which takes 45 minutes to achieve a 10% to 80% charge.
It is not known if the Indonesian-bound Mazda 6e will mirror the specifications of the EV that will be launched in Thailand in 2025. But with both of Malaysia’s neighbours already calling dibs on the Mazda 6e, will the Mazda 6e make an appearance in Malaysia soon too?
