We live in a connected world now; everything in our lives basically revolves around a 5G-enabled smartphone, and so are our cars! Not only does internet access give our modern cars over-the-air software update capabilities to continuously enhance our cars over time, it also unlocks the ability for us to remotely control our vehicles, or even upgrade them as and when we need, thanks to mobile apps like the My BMW app.
The My BMW app is available for all BMW models equipped with Operating System 7 or higher, which means cars dating back as far as 2018!
While actual functionality will depend on the vehicle that you have, we found ourselves most impressed by a few key features, such as the remote climate control function specifically for electric-powered BMWs, perfect for our hot and sunny Malaysian weather, as well as the Digital Key feature that replaces the traditional keyfob with just your mobile devices – that’s one less thing to carry in your pocket.
The My BMW app’s pièce de résistance, though, is definitely the ‘ConnectedDrive Upgrades’ feature that allows owners to purchase additional add-ons for their car, such as the Digital Premium Package that unlocks the augmented reality navigation system on-board, and even more personalisation options within your car!
