2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC350e now in Malaysia replacing the GLC300 – RM399k, L2 ADAS as standard

Alongside the launch of the all-new 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) today also unveiled a new variant to the Mercedes-Benz GLC, the GLC350e. Locally assembled (CKD) in Pekan, Pahang, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV model is now on sale with a price tag of RM398,888 on-the-road without insurance, including a four-year/unlimited mileage warranty and an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC350e’s price tag is a RM20,000 price hike from the existing Mercedes-Benz GLC300, which it will now replace as the sole model in the model’s variant line-up here in Malaysia.

The main difference between the two variants is, of course, its powertrain. The new Mercedes-Benz GLC350e is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain, derived from the Mercedes-Benz C350e and the E350e that was also launched today, which makes a total system output 313 hp and 550 Nm courtesy of a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine and an electric motor. Century sprint is completed in 6.7 seconds, onwards to a top speed of 218 km/h.

Electric juice on the GLC350e comes from a 31.2 kWh battery pack, that is good for 131 km of pure electric range. There is no DC fast charging capability here unlike the all-new E350e, and AC charging at 11 kW takes roughly two hours for a full charge.

Aside from the new powertrain, the rest of the model’s equipment have largely been carried over from the outgoing GLC300. Key standard exterior features include:

  • 20-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels
  • AMG line exterior
  • DIGITAL LIGHT LED High Performance headlamps
  • Adaptive Highbeam Assist
  • Electrically folding exterior mirrors
  • Underbody protection
  • Polished aluminium roof rails
  • Mirror package
  • Aluminium-esque running boards with rubber studs
  • Windscreen wipers with rain sensors

Ditto for the interior, which features the same AMG Line kit as the GLC300:

  • AMG Line steering wheel
  • AMG Line interior
  • Artico man-made leather upholstery
  • Power driver seat with memory function
  • Power front passenger seat with memory function
  • Sun protection package
  • Ambient lighting with projection of brand logo
  • 11.9-inch central display
  • 12.3-inch driver display
  • Apple CarPlay
  • Android Auto
  • MBUX Augmented reality for navigation
  • A powered tailgate

To accommodate for the hybrid powertrain however, the boot space of the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC350e has unfortunately been significantly reduced, down from 620 litres to now only 490 litres courtesy of the humped boot floor.

The biggest change in equipment comes in the form of the advanced driver assistance features. The locally-assembled 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC350e now gets Level 2 semi-autonomous driving features as standard, including features such as autonomous emergency braking, Distronic adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, lane centring assist, blind spot monitor with collision prevention, and front and rear cross-traffic alert with auto brake.

It also comes with the Parking Package with 360° cameras and Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, alongside seven airbags as standard, including a driver’s knee airbag.
