PRO-NET to fully manage Proton e.MAS EV sub-brand

Proton has announced that new energy subsidiary PRO-NET has taken the reins in managing the Proton e.MAS sub-brand. Officially launched on June 12, 2024, Proton’s e.MAS is its new EV sub-brand that will see the debut of Proton’s fully electric car next year.

In the press statement released by Proton, Proton Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Li Chunrong said, “The expertise PRO-NET has developed over the past two years positions us uniquely to elevate Proton e.MAS to the forefront of the EV industry. Our future customers will benefit from a holistic range of services that not only meet but exceed their expectations, similar to the premium experience provided to smart vehicle owners.”

Together with the announcement of the new management of the e.MAS EV sub-brand, Proton also announced the winners of the new brand name contest that it held for the new sub-brand. The winners of the contest are:

  • Grand Prize of RM5,000 goes to Puteri Hanna Batrisha binti Ibrahim
  • Runner-up Prize of RM1,500 goes to Noor Hidayah Binti Mohd Rodzi
  • Third Prize of RM1,000 goes to Ahmad Norrizzuan Bin Noor Azhar

The Proton e.MAS EV sub-brand has also launched its official social media pages. It is now present on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and Xiaohongshu. A dedicated webpage for the sub-brand however, has yet to be created.

Proton’s new e.MAS EV sub-brand comes not long after the debut of Perodua’s fully electric concept car, the emo-1. Both local carmakers have announced that their fully electric acrs may be available as soon as 2025.

Proton’s first fully-electric car will likely be based on the Geely Galaxy E5 as the silhouette of the car was used in the promotional images of the brand naming contest last month. The first fully-electric car from Proton and Perodua are what is needed to boost EV adoption if that is the goal of the government.
