Ever wished for a car museum in Malaysia? JPM Museo is now open to public

If you’re a petrolhead living in Malaysia, chances are you wish there was a sanctuary of sorts for four-wheeled vehicles (perhaps even two-wheeled ones). Unlike some countries, we aren’t quite blessed to have full-blown museums dedicated to cars. Now, we’re in for quite a treat as JPM Museo, a private car collection, is now open to public.

Before we go on, we must first establish that yes, Malaysia does have a National Automobile Museum in Sepang and some of us may even consider the Proton Centre of Excellence to be quite the sanctuary for petrolheads. However, the National Automobile Museum is a rather brief tour and the Proton Centre of Excellence isn’t exactly treated like a museum.

As for what JPM Museo is, “Museo” is just the Italian word for Museum. And JPM is the brainchild of Malaysian Tycoon Mr. Chin Jit Pyng where the “JPM” acronym is basically the result of combining the names of his sons. This is perhaps the most proper car museum in Malaysia for now.

Lucky for us, we were invited to have a look at the private collection, and after being given a tour, we could say that it is a pretty comprehensive display. The cars on display range from historic cars like the Benz Patent-MotorWagen to supercars like the Lamborghini Diablo, and even movie-star cars like the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. We’d love to share with you the entire collection put on display, but then we’d be spoiling things for you. You’re better off checking it out yourself.

Mostly air-conditioned, you can really take your time to appreciate the cars on display in this private collection. Pretty much all ground is covered including cars from Japan, Europe, and America.

With cars coming from various eras too, you will be able to appreciate the evolution of the passenger vehicle, seeing things like manually-cranked engines, transverse leaf spring setups, and even kerosene headlamps. It really makes you appreciate how far things have come in terms of personal mobility. And in case the four-wheelers aren’t enough for you, JPM Museo even has a decent collection of motorbikes for you to see.

Even restoration works take place at the facility.
