Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today announced the confirmed price tag for the S 400 Hybrid variant; the Mercedes-Benz S400L Hybrid is selling at RM587,888 OTR without insurance. The all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222 was launched in March this year, with a three-model line-up; S 400 Hybrid, S 500 and S 63 AMG.
The confirmed selling price is about RM300,000 lower than its initial estimation somewhere below RM900,000 during its launch. The massive ‘reduction’, thanks to the full duty exemptions granted to the locally-assembled hybrid car, means Malaysian buyers can now own a brand new S-Class for less.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has invested RM15 million to equip its Pekan plant to roll out the completely-knocked-down S400L Hybrid. The move is in support of Malaysia’s direction of making the country an Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) hub.
Kai Schlickum, Vice President, Sales and Marketing said, “With the S400L HYBRID qualifying and receiving full duty exemptions, we are proud to be able to contribute in helping Malaysia fulfil its ambition of becoming a regional EEV hub.”
“We have worked hard to bring the S-Class as a hybrid vehicle to the Malaysian market. Having invested a considerable amount in preparing our assembly line and manpower at our Pekan Plant. This marks another great achievement and certainly a milestone for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.” said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia President and CEO, Roland Folger.
The all-new S-Class codenamed ‘W222′, is the first car in the world to use only LED for its interior as well as exterior lighting system. That’s almost 500 LEDs used. Up to 112 of them are fitted in the headlights, 70 in the rear lights and 300 LEDs for interior
The S400L Hybrid, it is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 CGI engine and a electric motor, producing 306 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque; and 27 hp and 250 Nm of torque respectively. Mated with the 7G-Tronic Plus gearbox, acceleration figure is at 6.8 seconds, with top speed of 250 km/h.
