Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has just launched the new S560e plug-in hybrid, retailing at RM658,888, with Agility Financing starting from RM6,588.
On the outside, there’s not much to distinguish the new plug-in hybrid from the S450L, with similar Multibeam LED headlamps, tail lights along with the air suspension from the outgoing model.
The profound differences include a charging port by the rear bumper, new grille design, new 19-inch wheel design and a different front bumper design.
With a combined output of 476 hp and 700 Nm from a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 coupled with the hybrid system, the locally-produced S-Class will do 0 to 100 km/h in just five seconds. Transferring power to the wheels is tasked to the 9G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission.
Pure EV driving is only available up to 50 km from its 13.5 kWh battery, which will require six hours for a full charge. With the Wallbox charger, charging time is estimated to take just under two hours.
Inside, it’s business as usual. The seats are draped in Nappa leather, along with the Exclusive Trim package that offers gloss walnut wood trims on the steering, dashboard and door trims.
The S560e is also equipped with the Chauffeur Package that comprises the Chauffeur position front-passenger seat, EASY ADJUST luxury head restraint for the front passenger and footrest that is power-retractable on the front passenger side.
The luxury plug-in hybrid model will also come with multi-contour rear seats with massage and heating function.
The plug-in hybrid also features high-end specifications such as the pre-entry climate control that sets various temperature settings (air conditioning, heated seats, steering wheel heater, armrest heaters) for maximum comfort prior to setting off.
The S560e is also equipped with an Eco Assist mode that provides assistance to the driver to create the most efficient driving experience via the haptic accelerator pedal.
A double pulse will also kick in to recommend the drivers to take their foot off the accelerator, which turn the internal combustion engine off.
Driver assistant systems in the S560e includes a 360-degree camera, Active Steering Assist, Active Distance Assist, Active Parking Assist and Adaptive Brake Lights.
