Bufori CS8 unveiled – Malaysian-made 810 hp grand tourer, from RM2.188 million

Bufori, the Australian-Malaysian coachbuilder known for its hand-built cars assembled at its plant in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, has launched the all-new Bufori CS8 in Malaysia today, priced from RM2,188,000 on-the-road, without insurance.

It’s the first production model under the marque’s CS model line, which took over 10 years to develop. In this CS8 guise, it’s powered by a 6.4-litre supercharged Hemi V8 engine, producing 810 hp and 750 Nm of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels (RWD) via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The powertrain enables the Bufori CS8 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and reach a top speed that is electronically limited to 330 km/h.

Keeping all 810 hp in check is a powerful braking system, featuring six-piston Brembo brakes on the front and four-piston brakes on the rear. A limited-slip rear differential is also included to manage power delivery. Bufori also claims the CS8 has a weight distribution of 25% on each corner, which translates to a theoretically perfect 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution.

Apart from the supercharged V8, Bufori also offers four other engine choices, which include:

  • 6.4-litre naturally aspirated V8 producing 475 hp and 640 Nm
  • 3.6-litre naturally aspirated V6 producing 320 hp and 352 Nm
  • 3.6-litre supercharged V6 producing 455 hp and 495 Nm
  • 3.0-litre straight-six producing 550 hp and 677 Nm

The Bufori CS8 is packaged in an exterior that is hand-built from a Carbon-Kevlar monocoque body, resulting in a kerb weight of approximately 1,550 kg. Aesthetically, the CS8 has the proportions of a typical long-hooded grand tourer, but with some retro-inspired design cues.

The rear of the car, for example, seems to have taken inspiration from the Ferrari 360, complete with quad-exhaust tailpipes to let bystanders know that your car is V8-powered – if they can’t tell from its sound already. Other standard exterior equipment for the Bufori CS8 includes 19-inch forged alloy wheels, LED headlights, and taillights.

Inside, the cabin features a portrait-oriented 13.6-inch LCD touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and built-in Wi-Fi. The driver is equipped with a semi-digital gauge cluster. However, the real highlight of the CS8 is its level of customisation, as each car is made to order.

Customers can choose from a variety of colours for the leather upholstery, which you’ll find wrapped around the steering wheel and the two eight-way power-adjustable Recaro seats, and even custom embroidery, seat embossing, a signature in the body paint, and personalised door scuff plates.

Bufori says no two CS8s will ever be the same, and your imagination is truly the only limit… well, that and your bank account.
