BMW Group Malaysia has announced the official price of the 2024 BMW 520i MHEV (G60) in Malaysia, and it retails at RM359,700 (with the Extended Warranty & Service Package included). Ahead of this announcement, BMW Group Malaysia already previewed the 520i and the i5 M60 xDrive at the recent Malaysia Autoshow 2024.
The launch of the BMW 520i introduces the petrol version of the G60 BMW 5 Series in Malaysia. Since the i5 M60 has yet to be launched (but has already been previewed), you can choose between an MHEV G60 5 Series (the 520i) and the fully electric i5 eDrive40. The petrol 520i is the more accessible option. Want to know what the new G60 5 Series is all about? Watch our video below to find out more.
Although built on the same underpinnings as the i5 eDrive40 M Sport, the 520i in Malaysia gets things toned down with a more conservative set of wheels and it makes do without the M Sport kit. The lack of an M Sport kit means it gets less sporty bumpers and matt chrome trims instead of blacked-out trims like the M Sport i5 eDrive40.
Powering the 520i is a mild hybrid (MHEV) system that consists of a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and an electric drive system. The MHEV system’s combined maximum output is 208 hp and 310 Nm. (190 hp/310 Nm from engine, 18 hp/200 Nm from motor). The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to the rear wheels only. This setup enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h.
As for the high-performance all-electric BMW i5 M60 xDrive, it gets a dual-motor setup that makes 601 hp and 795 Nm. It can do 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 230 km/h (electronically limited).

Inside, the G60 BMW 5 Series sports the typical BMW curved display with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen head unit. The head unit gets the latest BMW iDrive 8.5 operating system, and sound is transmitted via a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
The new BMW 5 Series is also well equipped in the safety department with systems like the BMW Driving Assistant Professional and the Parking Assistant Plus. Among the advanced safety features on the new 5 Series are Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Rear-cross traffic warning, and rear collision prevention.
