Proton teases its first EV via a naming contest – to be based on the Geely Galaxy E5?

Proton New Energy Technology (PRO-NET) has launched an electric vehicle (EV) brand naming contest, inviting Malaysians to participate in “decoding” and guessing the brand name of its first EV. This is held ahead of the imminent launch of Proton’s first all-electric model.

Of course, winners of the Proton EV naming contest will be rewarded with prizes. The grand prize winner can walk away with RM5,000 cash. The first runner-up and second runner-up on the other hand will receive RM1,500 and RM1,000 respectively. The top 5 entries of the Proton EV naming contest will be rewarded as well, with each winner receiving RM100 cash.

To participate in the contest, participants simply need to fill out the registration form provided by PRO-NET via this link. Participants are then required to decode and reorder the given images or statements and share the contest link with friends to join. Proton’s EV naming contest will be ending on June 5, 2024.

At the time of writing, Proton has yet to mention which Geely EV model will its first EV be based on, or will it be a whole new model developed from the ground up? However, based on the disguised silhouette provided on the poster of the EV naming contest, this model could be based on either Geely’s Galaxy E5 or Geometry E. Whether we have gotten it right, we will have to find out later as Proton confirms more info on the upcoming EV.
