KIA EV6 facelift debuts in Korea – larger 84 kWh battery, same price

Kia has announced that it will start accepting orders for the Kia EV6 facelift, an update to the original EV6 launched initially in August 2021. Teased earlier this month, the new model maintains its price across all trims while incorporating significant enhancements in design, technology, and performance. The launch in Korea is expected in June 2024, pending government approvals.

Launched in June 2022 locally, the previous GT-Line AWD version made it to ABC 2022 with its impressive driving dynamics.

Kia EV6 facelift exterior – Star Map Signature Lighting

The updated Kia EV6 features the marque’s new ‘Star Map Signature Lighting’ on both the front daytime running lights (DRLs) and the rear combination lamps, giving it a distinctive and wide appearance. The front design is further accentuated by a wing-shaped bumper. The GT-line model adds sportier front and rear bumpers, a front LED centre positioning lamp, and exclusive 20-inch wheels

The EV6 is available in eight exterior colors: Ivory Matte Silver, Snow White Pearl, Intergalactic Gray, Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier, Moonscape Matte Gray, Yacht Blue, and Runway Red. The GT-line offers additional colors: Wolf Gray and Yacht Matte Blue.

Kia EV6 facelift interior – Cleaner and wider feel

Inside, the EV6 offers a more luxurious and modern atmosphere with new design elements. The display is now curved, for clean, wide feel, it’s complemented by dynamic ambient lighting to emphasise the horizontal layout. Also present is a new steering wheel design and crash pad pattern.

Key interior upgrades include:

  • A fingerprint authentication system on the centre console
  • The wireless charging pad now stops smartphone movement
  • New interior colour options: Medium Gray, Green & Light Gray, Toffee Brown (additional Black & White for the GT-line model)

4th-gen battery with improved drivability

The EV6 now includes a fourth-generation 84 kWh battery, boosting the driving range to 494 kilometres for the long-range 2WD model (19-inch wheels, without built-in cam). This battery also supports fast charging, allowing an 80% charge in less than 18 minutes with a 350 kW charger.

Enhancements in ride comfort and quietness have been achieved through the tuned ‘Frequency Responsive Shock Absorber’ and optimised motor noise control. Body rigidity has been reinforced by thickening the B-pillars; passive safety now comes in the form of a 10-airbag system, including side airbags for the second row.

The advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) include:

  • Hands on Detection using capacitive sensors
  • Lane Following Assist 2 (LFA 2)
