Porsche Taycan facelift gets range boosted to 587km, up by 143km

Ahead of the Porsche Taycan facelift’s official debut, Porsche has done a “real world” range test on its upcoming all-electric sedan. The test resulted in the facelifted Taycan achieving a maximum range of 587 km.

The test drives were held between Los Angeles and San Diego, California, by 12 international media representatives across three days. The Taycans were driven at speeds of up to 120 km/h, the highest speed Porsche said was allowed on the interstate Highway 405 and 5, on which the test took place.

It is to be noted that the range figures of the Taycan facelift claimed by Porsche aren’t officially rated according to international standards such as WLTP. The test was said to be carried out under “everyday” conditions, according to Porsche.

Porsche tested a total of four vehicles, all equipped with the larger Performance Battery Plus. This includes the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, equipped with 21-inch wheels, which maxed out at 512 km, the Taycan Turbo, also with 21-inch wheels, which achieved 555 km, the Taycan 4S with 20-inch wheels, which achieved 552 km, and the single motor-equipped Taycan, with 19-inch wheels, which travelled the furthest at 587 km.

At the moment, it is still too early to compare the electric range of the upcoming Taycan facelift against the outgoing model. Looking at the numbers reported, however, the updated model can travel as much as 143 km more than the current Taycan.
